Since then, about a month, the replacment switch has worked just fine. Amazon made good on warranty and replaced faulty switch at no cost to me. My experience suggests poor quality control. The first KVM switch, that I received, failed after a few weeks of use. Very annoying. The switches are manufactured in China.
GET A POWER ADAPTER. It says there is an optional power cord available, but I couldn't find it anywhere on your site. This KVM does work without the power, but sometimes the mouse will not connect. It has a place to put power, but no power adapter comes with it. I had one with the same fitting and same VAC so I tried it and we have had no problems since.
I use it to switch between two Dell machines, one running Windows 2000 and the other running Windows XP. I have found that it's best, when booting a machine, to wait until it's almost finished booting before switching to another machine. I bought this switch upon the recommendation of a co-worker. It took some initial fiddling with the display properties within Windows Control Panel to get things to my liking, but it's worked fine ever since.
With multiple PCs at home, this really helped me to consolidate all of the PCs into a single keyboard/monitor/mouse setup. If you are looking for an affordable solution for multiple systems, this is a great product. This is a very solid product that is easy to setup and easy to use. Toggling between the systems is as easy as hitting scroll lock twice then the up/down arrows.
Now I get it, I need to sell 2 monitors and mouses and keyboards, ja ja. This product solve me some troubles I've with my home servers, so I was following for almost 6 month. In the future, I hope to buy a Rack Mount KVM.
